Malcolm Miller I'm listening to Late Night Shortwave for the third time.
I'm 65, and when I was a kid shortwave was kind of a big deal to a group of us (maybe the nerds of our time). Some of us even learned electronics by building our own. I had a sweet Heathkit.
The sample sounds just like it sounded.
The music sounds just like it felt.
At night, in the dark, lit by glowing tubes.
Listening to something mysterious, miraculous, and from far away.
Really far away.
Wonderful.
I know. Favorite track: End Transmission.

thomas mathie New music from The Echelon Effect is always welcome and <signals> is an absolute belter ... a mature, developed post-rock sound with the breadth of expression that comes from some well versed in his craft.

The driving sound of "end transmission" in conjunction with the spoken word is an absolute delight ... this album is truly brilliant. Favorite track: End Transmission.

about

The Echelon Effect UK

The Echelon Effect came to life amid the long winter nights of February 2009, born from a burning desire to fall in love with music again. It started with a laptop and an idea: write a track, and make it huge. But one track became four, an EP that needed an audience. The tracks were posted on MySpace. And people began to listen. After 6 years and more releases this is the result so far. ... more
